Hi, everyone!

As many of you already know, we’ve been collecting data for project Hive for more than a year, having amassed a huge amount by now.

As of Jan 01, 2023, we are stopping data collection and are entering a new stage of the project: analysing and classifying the data.

Our plan is to develop a “citizen science” website, similar (even if more modest) to one of my favourites, the “Penguin Watch” https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/penguintom79/penguin-watch. Once the site is online, anyone can connect and help classify the data, a process that will likely take quite some time.

Thanks to you –and also to the post-covid component shortage– we always have our hands more than full 😉 so we are going to ask for help for this next step.

We are setting up things in the backend to differentiate between:

  • unclassified images,
  • partially classified (in case a user has not identified all the attributes of an image),
  • classified but unverified (for a classification to be trusted, we will require a user to verify the attributes) and
  • verified images.

All the information will be stored inside a PostgreSQL database.

But we’d love to have some help for the user interface part. User interface will be web-based and responsive so that we can have a nice approach for computers, tablets, or even smartphones.

So, we would like to ask for help from people with knowledge on UIX design or browser side technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

If you are willing to devote a bit of your spare time to this, please contact us at project-hive@lunaticoastro.com

A big thank you to all!
